Artists

  • Kae (they/she, @kae.loah.tattoos) is a founder of Catalpa Studio and an interdisciplinary artist who has spent the last 8 years translating her art practice onto human skin. Their background in woodwork helped spark a love for attention to detail, process-oriented media and machines. She sees tattooing as a practice that is situated at the intersection of art and care work, and approaches interactions with clients through a trauma-informed lens. Using a fine-line work that depicts medicinal plants, animals, objects, abstraction and queer erotics, they aspire to bring beauty and joy to every body they work with. They have nine fingers.

  • Milo (he/him, @egret.tattoo) is a queer transmasc artist with a penchant for animal death and botanicals. Milo has been working as a hand-poke tattoo artist in Tiohtià:ke/ Montreal since around 2018, and as of summer 2022, he also works with machine tattooing. His background in fibres/illustration informs his tattoo practice, and he values working collaboratively with his clients.

  • Maya (she/her, @mayamorphosis) is a multidisciplinary artist working in tattooing, printmaking and painting. Respect and compassion are the guiding principles of her art practice and life. As a tattoo artist, she strives to create an inclusive and welcoming experience for all her clients. All bodies are good bodies, and all skin types and tones are welcomed and respected. Her art practice is deeply inspired by the structures and patterns of the natural world, using fluid lines and organic motifs. Inspired by the fluidity of nature and informed by her background in printmaking, she specializes in fine line black & grey and engraving style tattoos - plants, animals, insects, mushrooms, and things of that nature.
